NEWSLETTER: Agriculture Development for Poor Families in Burundi

The Canadian Haley-McCready Outreach and Development Fund has had a productive year. Most of our Newsletters describe our agriculture projects and report on their activities, progress, results and benefits. Once a year, we try to encourage donations. If you have already donated this year, thank you very much. If you have not yet donated, please consider doing so before the end of the year. As you probably know and understand, all of each donation goes to direct support for our agriculture development projects and our projects are successful.

Once a year, we remind our readers that we need donations in order to continue providing our one-time, start-up grants to self-help associations of poor women who work together on crop cultivation, animal husbandry and microfinancing. We know that our agriculture development projects become self-supporting, self-managing, self-governing and self-sustaining. We believe that your donations are very good investments in agriculture development because we know that our projects are long-lasting, alleviate poverty and improve the lives of our project beneficiaries and their family members. Moreover, we now believe the time has come that we need to do more and do better.

We believe your donations are very good investments because our agriculture development projects produce impressive results and impressive benefits. This year we were able to provide grants to 5 new projects; the largest number of projects we have started in any one year. The 5 new projects have a total of 8 new Project Managers and 7 of the new Project Managers (87.5%) are Hope Africa University Agriculture Program Graduates. The new projects include our first project in the often overlooked CANKUZO Province and it has our first Project Coach; Epithace NDUWAYO, an experienced Project Manager originally from CANKUZO Province.

Needing Your Help to Do More and Do Better

We want to be able to continue with our agriculture development work but we want to do more and do better. We want: (1) to seize the opportunity to start more new projects each year; and, (2) to make more connections with the Hope Africa University’s Agriculture Program Graduates. The Agriculture Program Graduates can be Project Managers and Connected Project Advisors, visit our agriculture development projects frequently and help our project beneficiaries; community farmers, learn to use much more productive agriculture methods.

We know that your donations are sound investments in alleviating poverty, improving lives and making a difference through long-lasting agriculture development projects in Burundi. Please continue to donate to the H-MODF, please donate generously and please encourage your family members, friends, contacts, workmates and fellow group members to consider donating and investing in agriculture development that really works. Please help us do more and do better for poor families in Burundi.

Please consider giving, please consider investing before the end of this year. To donate, please visit: Donations – Haley-McCready Outreach and Development Fund.
